thefuture.xxx

Completed

TheFuture.xxx is a San Francisco based interactive art exhibit that explores open_source 3D scanning and projection technologies and their ability to capture the most intimate of moments.

We use a hacked Microsoft Kinect and open_source Processing packages to create a gradient video texture map. The map is then rendered in a web browser using Three.js. This allows users to navigate and interact with the subject matter in a compelling spatial environment. Be sure to check out the NSFW version.

Giftiki & Kiip SXSW 2012 DDP

Completed

I created the concept and produced Gifiki & Kiip’s 2012 SXSW Better Together Party. Instead of throwing an expensive/exclusive party we decided to crowd source and crowd fund an all inclusive, no invite necessary Decentralized Dance Party.

We created BetterTogetherDDP.com and used Gifiki’s new MyWant feature, a universal wishlist that allows your friends to collaboratively help you get what you want, to promote and fund the party.

In the end we raised over $4000 and we able to power 200 plus boom boxes to a throng of over 3000 people. WIRED even came out to document the party and my literal crowd surfing made it into Business Insider. Party to the people.

Luis Pena

Completed

When uber-creative Luis Pena came to
me for a website to showcase his Creative Agency  Penabrand and the film/photography of el Pena (his photog moniker) I couldn’t have been more honored.

A quick look at his work is all it took to realize a solution. Fullscreen, everything. Let the work speak for itself and only display relevant information. The goal was to minimize the UI as much as possible with out conceding functionality. Both sites are built on responsive frame works and optimized for mobile and tablet devices.

Giftiki

Completed

Giftiki is a fun and social way to give and receive gifts among friends. The way it works is simple. A friend throws in a few bucks over here, other friends do the same over there, and before you know it, you’ve got enough money for a big, meaningful gift. When everyone gives a little, together you give a lot.

I worked with Giftiki as Lead Front End Engineer to help them extend their product which included extending their user’s activity feeds, rebuilding their Hap.pe pages and fully constructing and launching their latest feature, MyWant.

I also ideated and produced their epic crowd funded and crowd sourced 2012 SXSW party.
See Gifiki & Kiip’s DDP.

The Black Harbor

Completed

Created @ I Shot Him and originally launched in January of 2010, The Black Harbor is an online account of the work, ideas, and inspiration of a tight-nit collective of creatives. I programmed the original website and framework from scratch. It is powered by a Content Management System (CMS) and is continually updated by more than a dozen contributors/creatives. The latest version was redesigned by Michael Jeter and juiced by Curious Peterson of I Shot Him.

Janum

Completed

Janum is a global marketplace for sustainable goods and products, where showing trumps telling. I am a Co-Founder, CTO and created the entire site, from design to development.

I approached the site design from the inside out, starting with the product pages. They are very information and media heavy and required an intuitive user interface to navigate.

This ultimately led to the implementation of a tool bar and a products panel which is viewable on any page, this was very important as we blog heavily about our products and process, the bar allows users to always have acces to our products no matter where they are on the website.

Bay Bridge Info

Completed

With more than one thousand visitors a day, The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge website is an invaluable resource for California’s largest public works project. The original website served as an information center for all communications surrounding the bridge.

As the bridge nears completion we were tasked with transforming the website into a media rich and celebratory destination. I redesigned and remapped the entire site as well as lead the development team while at Words Pictures Ideas.

We partnered with Google to make the Bay Bridge the only future project on Google Earth. Its construction status is tracked in real time and can be viewed in fullscreen on the website.

The New Leaf

Completed

In 2010, California was presented with Proposition 19 and posed with the question wether or not to legalize marijuana. I Shot Him decided to spear head a campaign to educate people about Prop 19 and exactly what they were voting for.

The website had three goals. The first was to educate voters. The second was to present the writing of the full proposition in a way that was easier to digest. And finally, make it really easy to share with everyone.

I implemented a few tools which aimed to inform and empower visitors. The first was a real time count down clock to voting day, the second was a google map which allowed voters to use their address to find voting locations and all relevant information and the third was a social media integrated commenting system for visitors to spread the word and voice their opinions.

I built the original website and have maintained and rolled out new versions for nearly the past two years. Designed by I Shot Him and built at Words Pictures Ideas.

If you live in San Francisco, download the parking App, it allows you to see available parking and pricing in all pilot areas.

Alimentando el Futuro

Completed

Aliemtando el Futuro (Feeding the Future) is the thesis project of the super talented and lovely graphic designer Marlene Franco. The site is heavily illustrated and served up in English and Spanish.

This was another website which required pixel precision and a very high level of detail. I fully enjoyed programming a website which was so visually appealing, especially one designed by my BFFFFFF.

I Shot Him

Completed

I Shot Him Because I Loved Him, Damn Him is a design firm that works hard to change hearts, minds and habits.

I spent two years working amongst some the most talented designers, thinkers and makers I know. Each project we worked on, for client or self initiated, pushed the bounds of what we previously conceived possible and always taught us something new.

I burned the midnight oil and programmed the I Shot Him site in one night in order to meet the deadline of the original Black Harbor launch party.

Hidden Menu is a food blog for those secret menu items that you only ever hear about.

I built the site to infinitely scroll, allowing users to get lost in the photography of the super talented Jonathan Snyder. I also created a custom animated loader for the infinite scroll which is based on the Hidden Menu identity, designed by Michael Jeter.
